Welcome to Pastry!

Version 1.1

Pastry.diy is a pastebin site, coded from scratch in Rust and based in HTML/CSS, aiming to teach the world web development in the most fun and engaging way out there!

Coding is a hard and long process, even more so in this day and age, however we are here to make the journey a little less terrifying! With full transparency on it's development, on-going new features being added, open source and completely free to use, we plan to show you all what we have to offer through this site!

How to Pastry?

As mentioned previously, Pastry uses HTML/CSS to decorate "pastes" (which you're looking at right now; this is a paste!), as a basic webpage would, with a little extra help to make coding more accessible! We do not support markdown or metadata. This is by design.

When you edit a paste, you will see two boxes and a live editing side preview of your paste. The first is for HTML (Hyper Text Markdown Language) and the second for CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). The HTML defines what the page should render, and the CSS gives a style to those definitions. This is how all webpages as you see today, Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr etc are made- through HTML/CSS.

You cannot hide the code of a paste on Pastry. This is due to the fact that code in of itself should be shared. If the people before us didn't share their code, we wouldn't have sites like we do today. You are free to leave disclaimers in your code to not use it - and contact moderators in case someone steals your code, but please know that letting people see how you made something is truly helpful in the longrun for beginner coders.

Other Information

Pastry.diy only supports image links from trusted image hosting domains, these are: Catbox, FileGarden, PostImg, ImgBB, and Neocities domains.

The following URLs are reserved for site-related purposes, therefore, they cannot be claimed:

/static, /edit, /save, /login, /logout, /register, /profile, /dashboard

Furthermore, the only allowed characters are that of the English alphabet, numbers and the "-" symbol.

Any URLs that contain genuinely hateful or harmful words will be transferred to an admin. Please refer to our site rules for more.

The maximum limits for pastes are listed as follows:

Maximum paste content size: 3MB
Maximum CSS size: 3KB
Maximum paste title length: 255
Maximum favicon URL length: 255
Maximum embed URL length: 255

As of right now, you can only claim 10 URLs a day, and 250 URLs in total - you may not bypass this limit by making an alternate account (i.e, to prevent excessive hoarding). At UTC 00:00, the daily claim limit will reset, and you may claim more URLs. Please refer to our site rules for more information.
